Adding vitamin E od for an antioxidant to the oil portion of a recipe also provides a concentrated restorative food for the skin. A couple of 200 IU capsules expressed into 8 ounces of the lotion will do quite well.
And, of course, refrigeration is one of your most reliable preservatives.

Asparagus, in addition to being extremely high in vitamin A (which can dissolve stones), is rich in a food factor called asparagin, which acts as a gentle stimulant to kidney function, and is of particular value in cases of dropsy (edema). It is said that the juice of this vegetable helps the breaking up of oxalic acid crystals in the kidneys. A biochemist recommends cooked asparagus pureed, 4 tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening (diluted with water, if desired, and used as a cold or hot drink). It is harmless, he says, and has been known for 200 years to dissolve kidney stones. |

Seasoning food with dill makes it more appetizing and more digestible with the added bonus of a high vitamin content, if the top parts of the plant are used.
Dill (1) is a sparsely leaved, annual herb which grows to a height of more than one metre. The leaves are multipinnate and feathery and, like the hollow stem, smooth and as if covered with a bloom. The small yellow flowers are arranged in a similar fashion to a cowslip. The fruit is a flat, elliptical double achene with winged edge and five prominent ribs (2). |
The dried fruits are also used as a drug and contain, in addition to tannins, anthocyanin pigments, organic acids and vitamin C. They are very effective in the treatment of diarrhoea, dyspepsia and even dysentery and are recommended as an effective and innocuous remedy for small children. They are used in the form of a briefly boiled decoction made from one teaspoon of crushed dried fruits to one cup water, taken several times a day, best of all by the spoonful. Finely powdered dried fruits may also be briefly boiled in water. |

A Harvard doctor has shown that an enlarged heart can be reduced in size in 48 hours with large doses of vitamin B-l, and another doctor recommends B-l to all patients with indefinite heart symptoms. Rapid improvement follows, he says, and the heart is reduced in size.
For disorders in the normal heart function, juices of hawthorn and garlic can be added to other milder juices. Olive oil is healing to the heart. In one study in Greece, where olive oil is widely used, out of 1,214 men, only four cases of heart or artery disease were found in six years. |
I've always had a circulatory problem and three years ago dissolved a blood clot in my leg almost overnight with vitamin E."
Garlic may be extremely important in heart disorders, because it increases the absorption of thiamin (B-l) to 10 times the amount normally received from food or food supplements, an amount heretofore impossible to achieve except by liquid injection. Without B-l, heart muscles become weak and enlarged. |
Parsley, also high in vitamin A, is excellent to help relieve a congested liver and gall bladder. Other foods that help cleanse and empty a congested gall bladder include grapefruit, gooseberries, endives and dandelion greens (which are also helpful in cleansing the spleen).
Lecithin, a fat-dissolver produced by the body, and available in foods, seems to liquefy cholesterol, an important substance in gallstones. Among the foods high in lecithin are soybeans and sunflower seeds. |
A woman with painful varicose veins tried vitamin E, and says: "Three months later... No ugly veins bulging on my legs! Even the little 'spider veins' around my ankle were gone!" A woman with phlebitis ulcers tried the same thing and says: "It was like magic... The ulcer healed... The bulgy veins flattened down to normal... Never felt better in my life." Many other foods cleanse or heal the heart, veins and arteries. You'll find full details in Chapter 4..

People with this disorder who are being treated with deferoxamine (Desferal), however, benefit from taking acerola, since the additional vitamin C helps the drug remove iron from circulation.
There is no danger of overdose through the use of acerola skin creams. But before using such a cream, test it on a small area to see if any sign of an allergic reaction develops. If there is no redness or swelling forty-eight hours later, apply the cream as needed. |

Nutrient requirements are based on physical symptoms of vitamin, mineral, and prorein deficiencies. Yet the brain shows changes in thinking, memory, personality, and intelligence long before symptoms appear in the body. You might have trouble remembering things or you may feel "under the weather," but don't feel ill enough to seek medical attention. Even if you did, it's unlikely a physician would detect subtle dietary problems that are undermining your thinking. Consequently, vague, yet profound, changes in mental ability can progress undetected because you otherwise feel fine. |

Chapter Four
EFA Deficiency: A Common Problem a
In the early years of World War II, scientists were alarmed to discover that many of the men drafted into military service suffered from deficiency diseases such as rickets (caused by low intakes of vitamin D) or beriberi (caused by low intakes of thiamin).
In 1943, a commission of scientists issued guidelines called Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs), which specified the minimum amount of nutrients that people need to be healthy. |

Physical exercise is another key to lifting depression among women, especially when accompanied by a nutritious diet, meditation, and vitamin and mineral supplementation. According to Dr. William J. Goldwag, the medical director of the Center for Preventive/Holistic Medicine, in southern California, exercise is one of the most profound aids in the treatment of depression: "One of the major errors in the thinking of patients and therapists is the notion that in order to be active, you have to feel better. This is exactly contrary to our approach. |

A study from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City found that people with Alzheimer's disease who took vitamin E supplements were able to slow the progression of rhe disease. Other antioxidants that might help curb the symptoms of Alzheimer's include ginkgo biloba, lipoic acid, and compounds called flavonoids in fruits and vegetables.
To keep your anrioxidant defenses strong, consume daily at least six to eight servings of fresh fruits and vegetables, such as orange juice, strawberries, carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, broccoli, kiwi, and cantaloupe. |
Follow the guidelines in chapter 14 for choosing a multiple vitamin and mineral supplement, as well as extra magnesium and antioxidants. In addition, avoid sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, which only add more stress to the body. Moderate, daily exercise also can help maintain muscle, metabolism, and even boost energy in many people battling chronic fatigue.
The Energizing Lifestyle
Whether you are a lark and accomplish your best work in the morning or an owl who comes alive after dark, what and how much you eat can affect how energized you feel. |
Always eat a vitamin C-rich food with an iron-rich food, such as orange juice with a bowl of iron-fortified cereal.
3. Cook acidic foods, such as tomato-based sauces, in cast-iron cookware.
4. Take iron supplements on an empty stomach (unless it causes nausea) and avoid taking calcium or zinc at the same time you take iron.
5. Drink tea and coffee between meals, since these beverages contain compounds called tannins that can reduce iron absorption by 80 percent or more.

This newfound centeredness is the result of the contractive effects of eating whole grains and beans, the nerve-calming action of the full vitamin B complex present in those foods, and the slow metabolizing of their complex carbohydrates. At the same time, avoiding foods that are more expansive and uncentering (sugar, large amounts of fruits, juices, and salads) reduces "spaciness" and unfocused thinking. Calmness sets in, we can say, as craziness dissipates for lack of fuel. |
Oils and fats, essential or nonessential, are partial foods; and vitamin supplements, regardless of their sources, are so, too.
Nature—our nature—abhors an imbalance. If we consume small amounts of partial foods (white flour or sugar), we can counterbalance them with small amounts of other partial foods (wheat germ or meat). But the higher the amounts of these foods in our daily diet, the wider the swing of the pendulum: The more unbalanced substances we have to compensate for, the stronger will be our feeling of uncenteredness. |

If needed for deficiencies, fish and organic meats may be used; they combine best with the above vegetables, and may be marinated and included in soups or broths, as described in the Protein and vitamin B12 chapter, pagell8. In addition, examples of meats in "congees" are given on pages 438-439, which are the only listings of meat in the following sections.

Today there is some evidence to suggest that vitamin C may help prevent flu and similar diseases. Although some people do not find the taste and smell of Black Currant particularly pleasant one can become accustomed to it or else the juice can be used in a mixture containing other, tastier juices.
Black Currant (1) is a spreading shrub more than one metre high mostly found nowadays in cultivation. The aroma of the leaves and fruits does not appeal to everyone. The leaves are stalked, alternate, palm-shaped with five lobes and numerous resinous glands on the underside. |

Research shows that LDL is protected against atherogenic modification by vitamin C due to ascorbic acid's free scavenging, which keeps aqueous oxidants from oxidizing LDL, and that stable modification of LDL by DHA or decomposition products thereof imparts increased resistance to metal ion-dependent oxidation. Intravenous infusion of 2 g of ascorbic acid in ten healthy volunteers resulted in a reduction of malondialdehyde concentrations and platelet aggregation inhibition. |
Reports also point to its usefulness in the treatment of severe myeloneuropathy and macrocytic anemia associated with a low vitamin B12 serum levels, and hepatitis.
Phenylalanine
The administration of phenylalanine in doses ranging between 75 to 250 mg per day has produced beneficial results in patients suffering from depression. Doses of 250 mg three times per day over a period of fifteen days have been shown to prevent pain in cancer patients. Phenylalanine has also exhibited anti-cancer activity and prevented stress and ulcers in rats. |

This nurse is not alone. There are hundreds of people just like her who eliminated viruses, bacteria, and diseases completely from their systems, solely by following the program I have developed for you.
This taught me that, in many cases, proper diet alone was not enough, nor was exercise or stress management. These treatment modalities did prevent a person from additional injury and assault to the system, but they could not undo the damage already done from years of abuse or neglect. |
Additionally, rutin improves the absorption of vitamin C, promotes circulation, and is a popular remedy for a host of different conditions such as bruises, muscle pain, high cholesterol, cirrhosis, rheumatic disorders, cataracts, hemorrhoids, constipation, and stress. Dietary sources of rutin include the white area under the skin of citrus fruits, white core of green peppers, rose hips, prunes, cherries, apricots, rhubarb, lemon-grass, mint, chamomile, and buckwheat. |

Asthma symptoms in adults have been shown to decrease following vitamin C supplementation. Standard anti-asthma chemoprophylaxis (SAC) supplemented with 1 g of ascorbic acid (Redoxon) daily experienced less severe and fewer asthma attacks when g ascorbic acid (Redoxon) given as a single daily dose for a six-month period significantly improved polymorphonuclear leucocyte (PMNL) motility and decreased antistreptolysin O (ASO) levels in children with bronchial asthma.
Another study of 124 patients with bronchial asthma found that 96.8 percent were deficient in ascorbic acid. |
