Flavonoids tend to make blood cells less prone to clotting. Therefore they can help reduce risk of stroke, including the "mini-strokes" that can cause symptoms similar to Alzheimer's. In one recent study, men with a high flavonoid intake had a 73-percent lower risk of stroke than a control group, over a fifteen-year period.
